European weightlifting champion Garik Karapetyan won a silver medal in the 102 kg weightlifting competition of the World Weightlifting Cup held in Phuket, Thailand, with a result of 401 kg (185+216) of the double event.
Samvel Gasparyan, the other representative of Armenia in this weight class, refused to fight.
According to the results of the Pokum exercise, Karapetyan held the barbell weighing 216 kg above his head and won the small bronze medal. In the push-up exercise, Karapetyan is 5th with a result of 185 kg.
On April 11, the platform will be given to super heavyweights. +109 kg Varazdat Lalayan and Simon Martirosyan will fight.
The World Cup to be held in Thailand is the last ranking tournament of Armenian weightlifters before the Olympic Games in Paris.

Armenia will participate in the Paris Olympic Games with 3 weightlifters, whose names are not yet known.
Armenia will not have a representative in the women's tournament.
